Linfield College freshman Adam Ruben (Fr., Lake Oswego, Ore.) has been chosen as Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for men’s golf, the conference office announced following a vote of the league’s sports information directors.
Ruben, a transfer from College of the Desert, shot the lowest score of any Linfield golfer this season, carding a 68 at the Willamette Cup at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks.
He went on to win the Willamette Cup by four strokes. He enjoyed six birdies with only two bogeys in his 18-hole round.
Ruben and the Wildcats head to the Northwest Conference Tournament at Woodburn’s OGA Course this weekend. The tournament will count 50 percent toward determining the 2012-13 team champion. Linfield, the two-time defending champion, sits in fourth place in the point standings and faces and uphill battle to repeat.
