Ewing captures conference award
April 16, 2013

Javelin specialist Morgunn Ewing (Soph., Bothell, Wash.) has been recognized as the Northwest Conference Men’s Field Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday after a vote of the league’s sports information directors.

Ewing won the javelin at the Pacific Luau with a career-best toss, hurling the spear 180 feet, 11 inches (55.14 meters). The effort was nearly a foot farther than his previous best, and ranks ninth among all throws in the Northwest Conference this season.

He has won his signature event at three meets this season – including the Wildcat Open and Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational – and finished as the runner-up three more times.

Ewing, a two-sport athlete who played in six games for Linfield’s football team this year, is competing in his first season of collegiate track.

NEXT: Linfield heads to Portland for the final tune-up before the NWC Championships. The Lewis & Clark Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, with action getting underway at 10 a.m.
