Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – Balanced scoring from Grace Reid, Caroline Cook and Claire Mahoney piloted the Puget Sound Loggers to a 21-6 win over the Linfield Wildcats on a stormy Sunday at the UPS field.

Reid and Cook each riddled Linfield for four goals and Mahoney added three more points to pace the Loggers’ attack. UPS outshot Linfield 36-12, including 25-6 in the opening half.

Despite the disparity in shots, Linfield got off to a good start in the match - the second of two meetings between the two Northwest rivals.

Shelby Duarte (Soph., San Ramon, Calif.) scored four times and Linfield held its own for the first 10 minutes. With UPS nursing a 5-3 lead following Duarte's third goal midway through the period, the Loggers reeled off seven straight tallies to stake a 12-3 halftime advantage.

Chas Tittle (Soph., Mililani, Hawaii) scored a goal and added an assist, and Halee Helgerson (Soph., Milwaukie, Ore) planted another goal. Hana Gould (Soph., Portland, Ore.) was credited with a match-high six ground balls and Rebecca Kropp (Soph., Beaverton, Ore.) added four more. Gould and Helgerson each caused a pair of turnovers in the match. Wildcats goalkeeper Erika Phillipo (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) made nine saves, all in the first half.

Linfield remained winless on the season at 0-8. The Loggers, who topped the Wildcats 19-4 in the season opener on March 3, improved their record to 4-8.

AHEAD: Linfield completes the season Friday night against the Pacific Boxers in Forest Grove. Match time is set for 6 o’clock.
