WOODBURN, Ore. – In a de facto dress rehearsal for the season-ending Northwest Conference Championships, Linfield took second at the George Fox Spring Preview, contested Sunday at the Oregon Golf Association Golf Course, site of the final tournament.
Brinn Hovde (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.) carded a nine-over par 82 to lead the Wildcat contingent with a sixth-place finish. Alexandria Smith (Jr., Bellingham, Wash.) was eight strokes back, in 10th place, after shooting a 90 over 18 holes.
Maggie Harlow (Fr., Hillsboro, Ore.) was 12th with a 99, newcomer Malika Reynolds (Fr., Hood River, Ore.) finished 13th with 148 strokes and Libby Sturges (Sr., Richland, Wash.) took 14th after carding a 154.
Oregon’s Hanule Sky Seo, competing as an individual, took home medalist honors with a one-under-par 72. Host George Fox put three golfers in the top five to win the two-team tournament with a total score of 322 strokes. Linfield’s four players combined to shoot 419.
COMING UP: The NWC Spring Classic, the second of three major tournaments that factors into determining the league champion, is scheduled for April 6-7 at Gold Mountain.
