After a sophomore campaign in which he led the Northwest Conference in scoring and rebounding, Andrew Batiuk (Soph., Tualatin, Ore.) has received honorable mention recognition on the league’s all-star team, as announced Wednesday following a vote of the conference’s coaches.
It marked the second honorable mention consideration for the 6-foot-9 center, who led the NWC in points (18.6) and rebounds (8.3) per game before missing the final seven games of the season due to injury. Batiuk hit double digits in the scoring column in 14 of 18 games he suited up for, surpassing the 20-point plateau seven times and the 30-point mark on three occasions.
He posted six double-doubles, including against Montana State-Northern, a game that witnessed him drop a career-high 38 points and snag a game-high 11 rebounds. Earlier this year, Batiuk was honored as the NWC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week after averaging 23.3 points over a three-game stretch.
Whitman's Ben Eisenhardt was honored as the NWC Player of the Year, while George Fox's Mark Sundquist was selected by his peers as the NWC Coach of the Year.
Hits double digits 14 times in 2012-13
