Taylor Collinsworth (Jr., Bend, Ore.) has been chosen as this week’s Northwest Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week after her shutout performance against Pacific Lutheran and a great outing against Puget Sound. The league’s sports information office announced the honor Tuesday afternoon.
Collinsworth’s 1-0 shutout victory against PLU was her sixth clean sheet of the season. It was the ninth overall for the Linfield defense, one away from tying the program single-season record.
A first-year starter, Collinsworth also played well against Puget Sound. She allowed only one goal – off a free kick making it possible for the offense to avenge the Wildcats’ only loss of the season and defeat the Loggers 2-1.
Through 16 matches, Collinsworth has registered a 0.43 goals-against average, second lowest in the Northwest Conference, and a .811 save percentage, which ranks fourth. As a team, the 'Cats boast the league's top defense, allowing only seven goals all year.
Linfield remained tied in first place with Whitworth, with a conference record of 9-1-2 against league foes and 13-1-2 overall.
COMING UP: The Wildcats head up Highway 99 to take on George Fox. Match time is set for noon Saturday afternoon.
