Linfield’s second-leading scorer Emma Vukic (Fr., Bainbridge Island, Wash.) is this week’s Northwest Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week in recognition of her goal-scoring performances this past weekend. The award, a first for the freshman, was announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Vucic scored both of Linfield’s goals in a 2-1 win over Lewis & Clark and added a goal in the Wildcats’ 3-0 win over Willamette. The three goals brought her goal total for the year to six, through 14 matches.
Among league opponents, Vukic is tied for fourth in season goal scoring and is also tied for second with three game-winning goals.
After picking up the pair of victories, the Wildcats now share a lead of the Northwest Conference with Whitworth both have a conference record of 7-1-2. Linfield has a better overall record, however, at 11-1-2.
NEXT: A big weekend lies ahead for the Wildcats, who travel north to Pacific Lutheran Saturday afternoon before returning home to play host to 10-time defending conference champion Puget Sound. The Loggers sit one point behind Linfield and Whitworth in the NWC team standings, and defeated the Wildcats 1-0 earlier this season. Both matches start at noon.
