Senior Mickey Inns (Sr., Gresham, Ore.) has been named the Northwest Conference Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his career-best performance in Linfield’s Homecoming blowout of Whitworth last Saturday. The honor was announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Inns put on a show, throwing for 261 yards and a career-best five touchdowns as the Wildcats dominated the Pirates 54-14. Inns completed 23 of 32 passes for a career-best 71 percent completion percentage and no interceptions.
With Inns running the offense, the efficient Wildcats were able to score on eight of 15 drives.
This is the third weekly conference award for Inns, who was a first-team NWC all-star last year in his first season as a starter. Through five games, the senior has thrown 15 touchdown passes, completing 57.4 percent of his throws and averaging 249.6 passing yards per contest.
Linfield improved its record to 5-0, including 2-0 against conference opponents. The ‘Cats are ranked third in the nation and with the win over Whitworth, secured the program’s 57th consecutive winning season.
COMING UP: Inns and the Wildcats are back in action Saturday at Lewis & Clark. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
