Junior Emily Fellows (Jr., Portland, Ore.) has been chosen as this week’s Northwest Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the week after her outstanding performances against Whitworth and Whitman this past weekend. The honor was announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
With 11 seconds left in double overtime against Whitworth, Fellows headed in the game-winning goal to make the score 2-1, advantage Linfield. That goal ended a seven-year streak in which against the Wildcats either lost to or tied with the Pirates. The following day, she headed in another goal that forced another overtime and a Wildcat win over Whitman 2-1.
Fellows leads the Northwest Conference with 12 goals on the year and has scored in nine of the 12 matches this season.
The Wildcats remain within striking distance of the lead of the conference in third with a conference record of 5-1-2 and an overall record of 9-1-2.
The next match for Linfield is Saturday at home against Lewis and Clark at noon.
