Linfield splits two matches at Bethel Invitational

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Traveling to the Twin Cities for a four-match tournament, the Linfield Wildcats split a pair of matches Friday at the Bethel Invitational.

The Wildcats swept Martin Luther (Minn.) in the opener, 27-25, 25-18, 25-19, before dropping a four-set encounter with host Bethel, 26-24, 25-19, 23-25, 25-15.

Linfield ran its record to 3-2 heading into Saturday’s matches against Northland (Wis.) and Carleton (Minn).

Kailana Ritte-Camara (Soph., Molokai, Hawaii) led the Wildcats to the tournament-opening win over Martin Luther, planting 11 kills, digging 12 balls and assisting on three blocks. Leimomi Hookano (Soph., Kaneohe, Hawaii) added seven kills and Kelsey Ludin (Jr., Bozeman, Mont.) provided six kills for the Wildcats.

Ludin pounded a dozen kills and Shayli Coppock (Jr., Temecula, Calif.) delivered 11 more in the four-round setback to the host Royals. Audrey Frazier (Soph., Albany, Ore.) distributed 39 assists while adding nine digs and a pair of service aces.

NEXT: Tournament action resumes Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Pacific time when the Wildcats battle Northland. The Wildcats will then square off with Carleton two hours later before heading back to the airport for the long flight home.
