Gladow, Greider lead the pack in Lewis & Clark dual

PORTLAND, Ore. – Joe Gladow (Jr., Shoreline, Wash.) and Calvin Howell (Soph., San Antonio, Texas) placed 1-2 for the Linfield men while Hannah Greider (Jr., Shoreline, Wash.) finished first for the Wildcat women as Linfield split a dual meet with Lewis & Clark on the first day of competition Friday afternoon at Westmoreland Park.

On the men’s side, the ‘Cats topped the host Pioneers for the second consecutive season, totaling 25 points to the host school’s 31.

Gladow was first to complete the eight-kilometer course and the only runner to break 27 minutes, finishing in 26 minutes, 59.5 seconds. Howell came in about eight seconds later (27:07.3) while freshman Frankie Moncada (Fr., Simi Valley, Ore.) was impressive in his Wildcat debut, placing fourth (27:12.5).

Jason Hight (Jr., Orange, Calif.) was Linfield’s fourth top-10 finisher, taking seventh in 28 minutes, 36.4 seconds. Rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats was Brandon Lemerande (Jr., Bandon, Ore.) in 11th place (29:15.0).

Greider paced the Linfield women, finishing third behind Lewis & Clark’s Emily Thomas and Heather Sporling. The Linfield junior ran the six-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 22 seconds.

Siena Noe (Soph., Yakima, Wash.), Brooke Niemann (Soph., Bellevue, Wash.) and Audrey Lichten (Soph., Sequim, Wash.) claimed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively. Noe turned in a time of 23:44.3 while Niemann (24:04.1) and Lichten (24:05.5) finished right after one another.

Claire Hann (Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii) was Linfield’s fifth and final scoring runner as the 14th woman to cross the tape in 24 minutes, 43.1 seconds.

The defending Northwest Conference champion Pioneers achieved the team victory on the women’s side by a 16-point margin, 18-34.

NEXT: Linfield heads out of state in two weeks for the Sundodger Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington. Held at Lincoln Park in West Seattle, the meet begins with the women’s 6K at 9 a.m. followed by the men’s 8K approximately 40 minutes later.
