Complete All-Region Team

Despite not making the regional tournament cut, the Wildcats can still stage a small celebration upon learning that two of their own have been named to the inaugural D3baseball.com All-West Region Baseball Team, as announced Friday morning.

Linfield second baseman Tim Wilson (Jr., Redmond, Wash.) was honored as a first team selection while ace Ryan Larson was named to the third team.

A two-time first team all-NWC performer, Wilson registered his second consecutive .400 season, batting .404 with a team-leading 17 doubles. Linfield’s leadoff hitter for the majority of the season, the sophomore drove in 23 runs while crossing the plate 34 times himself. He also posted the team’s highest slugging percentage at .572.

This is the sixth postseason honor for Wilson; he is a two-time all-conference honoree, was named to the all-tournament team at least year’s regional tournament and was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region and All-America teams at the end of his rookie season.

Larson recorded a career-low 1.88 ERA and tallied a team-high 63 strikeouts in his final season as a Wildcat. He pitched four complete games, including a four-hit shutout in his final start. With seven wins on the year, the three-time NWC all-star moved up to a tie for No. 3 on Linfield’s all-time victories list (27).

The senior graduates with a slew of postseason honors of his own, including the NWC Pitcher of the Year Award, two additional all-league nods and a spot on the 2011 ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region Team.

Larson also stacks up well against some of Linfield’s all-time bests. In addition to owning the third-most career victories, he holds school records in single-season wins (12); career strikeouts looking (71), groundouts (368) and double plays turned (60); and ranks high in numerous other single-season and career statistics.

This marks the first time D3baseball.com has compiled regional all-star teams; honorees will be considered for the organization's all-America squads. A total of 713 players were nominated for the all-region team by their respective sports information directors. Ballots were then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region, as well as D3baseball.com staff and contributors.
