Allan attains all-academic accolades

For the second straight year, Kevin Allan has been honored as a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District selection, as announced Friday by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.

Allan, a two-year starting infielder, has maintained a 3.87 grade point average at Linfield, and graduates this May with a degree in biology. A team captain this season, he saw action in 29 games, starting 26: 14 at third base and 12 at first. He hit .202 and recorded five doubles, one home run, 13 RBI and 28 total bases.

The senior has played in 98 games over his career, boasting a .266 average with 24 doubles, one triple and three round-trippers. Allan was a first team all-NWC infielder as a junior, when he hit .308 with a team-leading 17 doubles.

The District 8 All-Academic Team, selected by CoSIDA members, was chosen from a pool of nominees from Division III programs locted in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Kansa, Louisana, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Canada.

First team all-district honorees are automatically considered for the Academic All-America team, which will be voted upon and announced later this month.
