Regular-season champion Linfield put four on the 2012 All-Northwest Conference Women’s Tennis Team, as announced Friday after a vote by the league’s coaches.
Kiana Nip and Amy Dames Smith stole two of the top three awards, as they were chosen as the NWC Sportswoman of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.
Nip posted a perfect 12-0 record in both singles and doubles action, competing at No. 5 singles and teaming with freshman sister Kiana at No. 2 doubles.
Dames Smith was tabbed as the league’s top coach after leading the Wildcats (12-4, 12-0) to their first regular-season title since the 2008 season. She also won the award in 2008 and 2007, and shared the honor with current men's head coach Carl Swanson when the two coached the women's squad in tandem during the 2005 season.
Abby Olbrich picked up all-NWC accolades for the fourth consecutive year after compiling a 10-5 record at No. 1 singles and 11-5 win-loss total at No. 1 doubles. She was voted to the first team.
Olbrich’s doubles partner, Caroline Brigham (Jr., Eagle, Idaho), is now a two-time all-conference honoree, earning a nod on the second team after receiving honorable mention consideration a year ago. Brigham competed at No. 2 singles, posting a 10-6 record, including 9-3 in league matches.
Whitman’s Alyssa Roberg was honored as the NWC Player of the Year.
