FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Melanie Niehus potted a match-high five goals to pace the home-standing Pacific Boxers to a 14-10 victory over the Linfield Wildcats Friday night at Lincoln Park Stadium.
The Boxers raised their season record to 8-6 while the Wildcats slipped to 1-6.
Pacific jumped to a 4-0 advantage during the opening 7½ minutes before the Wildcats closed to within one, 5-4, on a goal by Mariah Jones at the 8:27 mark of the first period.
The Boxers scored three goals to close the half, then added another 44 seconds into the second to assume a 9-4 advantage.
Both teams scored six goals following intermission, including two from Jones. Zooey Spring added two goals, and Taylor Fisher contributed a goal and an assist for Linfield.
Tori Kraft recorded a dozen saves in net for the ‘Cats. The Boxers outshot the Wildcats 33-25 and forced 25 Linfield turnovers.
AHEAD: Linfield closes out its season at 1 p.m. Sunday with a match at Puget Sound.
