SALEM, Ore. – Linfield distance runners kept their competitive juices flowing over Spring Break by competing at the Willamette Invitational Friday evening at the Charles Bowles Track.
Scott Gage was the Wildcats’ top performer, placing third in the 10,000-meter run (31:36.76). The senior, who has already qualified for the Northwest Conference Championships and owns the best time in the league thus far, finished behind a competitor from Seattle University and Greg Mitchell, Linfield's assistant track and cross country coach.
Joe Gladow took eighth in his heat of the 5,000 in 15 minutes, 36.20 seconds.
Also representing the Linfield men were seniors Alex Van Slyke, Arian Anderson and Eric Weinbender. Van Slyke was 10th in the 3,000 steeplechase (9:51.27), Anderson finished 18th in his heat of the 5,000 (16:11.74) and Weinbender took 20th in the B heat of the 1,500 (4:04.73).
Brooke Niemann (Soph., Bellevue, Wash.) finished 19th in her heat of 5,000 with a time of 19 minutes, 10.52 seconds.
