TYLER, Texas – Dodging three match points in a come-from-behind singles victory, Linfield freshman Micah Roos (Soph., Port Angeles, Wash.) provided the highlight in the Wildcats’ 8-1 setback to Hardin-Simmons Sunday on the UT-Tyler courts.

Roos outlasted the Cowboys’ Cullen Dees 6-2, 0-6, 12-10 at No. 3 singles.

It was the only point for Linfield against the team from Abilene, a four-hour drive west of Tyler.

Linfield’s most competitive match in doubles came in the second flight, where Roos and partner Luke Kleinman were edged by HSU’s Michael McCullough and Tony Record 8-6.

Linfield dropped to 2-11 for the season. Hardin-Simmons evened its season mark at 4-4.

COMING UP: Linfield heads to nearby Longview, Texas, for a matchup with LeTourneau, the last of its five matches in the Southwest.
