EUGENE, Ore. – Enjoying a heightened level of competition as well as the great atmosphere at the University of Oregon’s historic Hayward Field, four Wildcats took on a field of athletes representing all three divisions of the NCAA, the NAIA, community colleges and various track clubs Sunday at the Oregon Preview.
Audrey Lichten (Soph., Sequim, Wash.) posted a season-best time in the 800-meter run (2:24.37) while finishing ninth in her section and 13th overall.
Catherine Street and Misty Corwin placed second and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault. Competing outdoors for the first time this year, Street cleared the bar at 13 feet, 3 ½ inches (4.05 meters). She achieved the same height as unattached competitor Melissa Gergel, but Gergel was declared the event winner by virtue of fewer misses. Corwin, meanwhile, topped out at 10-8 (3.25m).
Placing in the top five in a pair of events was Anna LaBeaume (Jr., Sequim, Wash.). She took fourth in the hammer throw with a career-best toss of 150 feet, 4 inches (45.82m) and was also fifth in the shot put (38-10.25/11.84).
AHEAD: The complete Linfield team competes next at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open next Friday and Saturday.
