Game 2 Box Score
HERMISTON, Ore. – Top-ranked Linfield delivered two more lopsided victories over the Whitworth Pirates Monday, completing a four-game sweep of the Northwest Conference series marred by extreme weather and soggy playing conditions. The Wildcats (6-0, 4-0 NWC) won the opener 10-1 in six innings before rolling to a 15-2 triumph in the five-inning nightcap.
The series, originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday on Whitworth’s home field in Spokane, Wash., was moved to Pasco before being delayed a day due to high winds. The first two rescheduled games were completed, but on Monday, the teams awoke to snow in the Tri-Cities and again were forced to relocate, this time to Hermiston High School.
For the series, Linfield outscored Whitworth 48-6 while holding the Pirates to a .162 batting average. Five Wildcats with at least two at-bats hit over .500 for the series. Six different players hit home runs as Linfield raised its season total to 14 in six games.
