NEW ORLEANS – Keeping up on the course and in the classroom, three Wildcats and both Linfield teams earned 2011 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status, as announced this week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

On the women’s side, Mimi Seeley (Sr., Redmond, Ore.) received the honor for the second consecutive season and was joined this year by Nelly Evans.

Seeley, a psychology major, repeated as an all-Northwest Conference and all-West Region performer this season. She was the highest Linfield finisher at the conference meet, placing seventh, and took 24th at the regional championships.

Evans also received all-region accolades while competing in her first season back at Linfield after a year abroad. A German and political science major, her best showings came at the regional championships, where she finished 20th, and at the Linfield Preview, where she placed second overall and first among collegiate competitors.

As a team, the Linfield women received all-academic honors after posting a 3.44 cumulative grade point average.

The Wildcat men were also recognized for their smarts. In addition to achieving a 3.28 cumulative GPA to garner team all-academic honors, Joe Gladow (Sr., Shoreline, Wash.) was recognized for his individual academic achievements.

The sophomore international relations and economics major placed 31st in the West Region – 11th among conference runners – after finishing 22nd at the NWC Championships.

To qualify for the USTFCCA All-Academic Team, an individual must have compiled cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better through the fall semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships. Teams must post a cumulative team GPA of 3.10.
