In recognition for their contribution to Linfield’s record-breaking season, three Wildcats have been named to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women’s Division III All-West Team, as announced Friday.
MacKenzie Doty, Jenna Quiring and Anna Sours (Sr., Jacksonville, Ore.) all made appearances on the squad for the first time in their respective careers. The three were previously recognized this season with first team all-Northwest Conference honors.
Doty led the Wildcats in scoring this season, tallying eight goals and four assists. Three of the senior’s goals were game-winners, which tied for second-best in the league this year. She wraps up her Linfield career with 21 goals, placing her fifth all-time in program history.
Quiring anchored a Linfield back line that allowed just 15 goals this season, a feat that ranked second in the Northwest Conference and also set a program record. The defense also set a single-season record for shutouts with 10. Offensively, the four-year starter had her best year yet, notching three goals, the only scores of her career, and also contributed four assists.
Sours was the team’s assist leader, setting up her teammates to score five times. In addition to leading the team in that category, she ranked third (tied) in the league. Sours also added four goals of her own to bring her three-year career total to 16. That number puts her ninth on Linfield’s career scoring ladder.
The three all-stars helped the ‘Cats achieve their best season in program history, finishing second in the Northwest Conference with a 11-2-3 league record, 14-2-3 overall. The 14 wins set a single-season program record.
