Linfield’s Zach Anderson has been selected as the Northwest Conference Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week in recognition of his big numbers in the opening week of the 2011-12 season. The honor was announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Anderson scored a career-high 27 points in Linfield's season opener against Corban, only to top the performance four nights later with a 33-point effort in a win over Concordia. For the week, the junior forward shot 57.1 percent from the field (20-of-35) including a red-hot 68.8 percent from three-point range (11-of-16) and also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game.
This is the first weekly honor for Anderson, who averaged 9.8 points per game a season ago.
As a team, Linfield is currently 1-2 on the year with a win against Concordia and losses to Corban and Division I program Portland State.
