Linfield's Playoff History
Listen Live (8:45 a.m. PST)
The fifth-ranked Linfield College Wildcats will travel to Dover, Del., for their second-round NCAA Division III playoff matchup against the Wesley College Wolverines.
Though the pairings were certain after Saturday’s opening round, the location of the second-round game was announced Sunday by the NCAA Championship committee.
Linfield (10-0), champion of the Northwest Conference, faces Wesley (10-1) for the first time in program history. The Wildcats defeated California Lutheran 30-27 on Saturday to advance while Wesley knocked off Hobart (N.Y.) 35-28.
Wesley, a Division III independent, has a history of recent success in the NCAA playoffs. The Wolverines have reached the semifinals four of the last six seasons, though they have never claimed a national championship.
Linfield, with four national championships in its trophy case, is making its third straight appearance in the NCAA playoffs and takes an all-time NCAA playoff record of 14-6 into Saturday’s contest. Including NAIA playoff history, the Wildcats are 29-18 in the postseason.
Kickoff is set for noon EST (9 a.m. Pacific) at Scott D. Miller Stadium on the Wesley campus. Dover, the capital city of the First State, is located about 75 miles south of Philadelphia.
The Linfield-Wesley winner would advance to play the winner of the McMurry (Texas) at Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) winner on Saturday, Dec. 3 at a site to be determined.
