PORTLAND, Ore. – Two weeks removed from competition, the Linfield men’s and women’s cross country clubs showed little sign of slowing down while competing at the Concordia/Adidas Classic at Fernhill Park Saturday morning.
Scott Gage and Joe Gladow (Sr., Shoreline, Wash.) paced the Wildcat men with a pair of top-20 finishes. Gage completed the eight-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 53 second to place 17th, and Gladow was 20th with a time of 26:06.
Leading the field of 103 runners was Rayan Guerni, an unattached competitor who crossed the finish line 24 minutes, 28 seconds after the race began.
Rounding out the scoring runners for the Wildcats were Arian Anderson, Alex Van Slyke and Eric Weinbender. Anderson was 29th (26:24), Van Slyke finished 37th (26:38) and Weinbender was just behind in 38th (26:50).
As a team, the Linfield men finished fourth of 10 squads with 93 points. The College of Idaho won the meet with 46 points after placing three runners in the top 10.
Led by three top-40 finishes from Mimi Seeley (Sr., Redmond, Ore.), Nelly Evans and Shanna Peaden, the Wildcat women finished sixth among 10 teams with 160 points.
Seeley was the fastest to finish for Linfield, completing the six-kilometer course in a time of 18:37. Evans was 35th (18:59) and Peaden finished 40th (19:07).
Simon Fraser totaled 61 points to claim the team championship. The overall female finisher was Andria Scheese, who topped the field of 114 with a time of 17:22.
Also scoring for the women were Madison Trowbridge (Jr., Portland, Ore.) and Hannah Greider (Sr., Shoreline, Wash.). The two finished just one second apart; Trowbridge was 44th with a time of 19:11 and Greider finished 45th with a time of 19:22.
NEXT: The Wildcats have two weeks to prepare for the Northwest Conference Championships. Linfield hosts the meet, held at Willamette Mission State Park Saturday, Oct. 29.
