FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Pacific men’s soccer club completed the season sweep over Northwest Conference rival Linfield by virtue of a 2-0 shutout Friday night at Lincoln Park Stadium.

The Boxers won their second straight match to improve to 4-4 in the NWC and 4-8 overall. The Wildcats, meanwhile, suffered their fourth consecutive shutout and fifth straight loss to drop to 0-7-1 in conference action and 1-9-1 overall.

Patrick Murray, who scored both goals in Pacific’s thrilling double-overtime victory over Linfield earlier this season, notched the first point of this match in the 59th minute. Teammates Antonio Maddedu and Nick Rudella set up the play, allowing Murray to finish from 12 yards out.

Unfortunately for the ‘Cats, the Boxers weren’t done. With less than three minutes remaining in the match, Murray took a free kick, sending the pass to Rudella, who headed the ball in from 15 yards away.

Pacific dominated play on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the Boxers pounded Cody Tipton with a total of 23 shots; he made a pair of saves in a losing effort. Conversely, Pacific keeper Michael Summers faced just nine shots.

Harper Taylor (Sr., Clackamas, Ore.), Danny Snelgrow (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii) and Xavier Reed (Jr., Tigard, Ore.) provided the bulk of the scoring opportunities for the Wildcats, taking two shots each.

NEXT: The Wildcats have a day off before traveling to Newberg for a 2:30 p.m. match Sunday afternoon against George Fox.
