McMINNVILLE, ORE. – With five golfers among the top 10, Linfield easily won its own three-way tournament over Northwest Conference rivals Willamette and Pacific.
The Wildcats shot 339 across 18 holes, seven shots better than runner-up Willamette. Pacific was third at 396.
Willamette’s McKenzie Weinhold edged teammate Nicole Smith by one stroke for medalist honors. Weinhold shot an 8-over-par 80. Smith was second at 81.
A foursome of Linfield competitors followed: Danielle Lungren shot 83 to place third, Alexandria Smith (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.) carded an 84, while Hannah Christianson and Brinn Hovde each had matching 86s. Sophie Corr was ninth with a 90.
COMING UP: The Wildcats head to The Reserve Golf Club Friday and Saturday to compete in the George Fox Invitational, the final competition prior to the NWC-counting Fall Classic.
