McMINNVILLE, ORE. – With five golfers among the top 10, Linfield easily won its own three-way tournament over Northwest Conference rivals Willamette and Pacific.
The Wildcats shot 339 across 18 holes, seven shots better than runner-up Willamette. Pacific was third at 396.
Willamette’s McKenzie Weinhold edged teammate Nicole Smith by one stroke for medalist honors. Weinhold shot an 8-over-par 80. Smith was second at 81.
A foursome of Linfield competitors followed: Danielle Lungren shot 83 to place third, Alexandria Smith (Jr., Bellingham, Wash.) carded an 84, while Hannah Christianson and Brinn Hovde (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.) each had matching 86s. Sophie Corr was ninth with a 90.
COMING UP: The Wildcats head to The Reserve Golf Club Friday and Saturday to compete in the George Fox Invitational, the final competition prior to the NWC-counting Fall Classic.
