SALEM, Ore. – Erik Kaufman scored the match-winning goal in the first half and assisted on an insurance goal in the second half to carry Willamette past Linfield 3-0 Saturday night at the Willamette soccer field.

Linfield remained winless in the Northwest Conference, falling to 0-6-1 against league opposition. Willamette raised its record to 4-5-1 and 3-4 in the NWC.

Kaufman scored his sixth goal of the season on a header from eight yards away in the 18th minute, then set up Trevor Jensen’s tally in the 54th minute.

Loftin Langsdorf made it 3-0 with a header off a crossing pass from Robin Hryciuk with 12 minutes remaining.

Cody Tipton started in goal for the Wildcats and made six saves in the opening 45 minutes before making way for Scott Goodman (Soph., Newberg, Ore.).

For the match, Willamette outshot Linfield 19-9, including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal. Ivan Colin and Xavier Reed (Jr., Tigard, Ore.) were the only Wildcats to put the ball on target.

The match featured 23 fouls, 13 by Willamette.

Linfield was held without a goal for its third consecutive match. The Wildcats' scoreless drought currently spans 279 minutes.

COMING UP: The Wildcats head to Forest Grove to battle Pacific Friday night at 7, then visit George Fox Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The ‘Cats return home the following weekend to host the Tacoma schools, playing Puget Sound Saturday and Pacific Lutheran on Sunday.
