McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Chalk up another one for the Linfield defense. For the second consecutive week, a Wildcat has been honored as the Northwest Conference Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, with this week’s accolades going to Tyler Robitaille (Jr., San Jose, Calif.). The honor was announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Robitaille, a linebacker, was a member of a Linfield defense held La Verne to just three points in the Wildcats' 52-3 victory Saturday afternoon. He single-handedly made five tackles, including three quarterback sacks for a total loss of 22 yards, and had one quarterback hurry that forced an incomplete pass on third down, ending a third-quarter drive for the Leopards.
This is the first conference weekly honor for Robitaille, who saw action in 10 of 11 games as a freshman in 2010.
Linfield is 2-0 on the year after a pair of nonconference victories over Cal Lutheran University and the University of La Verne, and is ranked sixth in the latest national poll.
NEXT: Linfield competes in its first road game of the season Saturday at Willamette. Kickoff in Salem is slated for 4 p.m.
