Twice is nice for Alex Fitch
September 27, 2011

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – For the second straight week, Alex Fitch has been honored as the Northwest Conference Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league’s sports information directors Tuesday.

Fitch, the 2011 NWC Player of the Year, won his second tournament of the season in as many tries, carding a five-under-par 139 at the Pacific Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf Course. After Saturday’s first round, he sat in a three-way tie for fourth place with 69 strokes.

On Sunday, despite playing in windy conditions, Fitch’s second-round score increased by only one stroke and was the lowest among all players that day. He ended up finishing three strokes ahead of the individual runner-up and led the Wildcats to the team title.

This is the second weekly conference honor for the senior, with both awards coming this year.
