McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Reigning conference player of the year Alex Fitch appears to be picking up right where he left off. After medaling at the first tournament of the fall season, the senior has been named Northwest Conference Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Fitch opened the season with a big win at the George Fox Invitational. He carded a four-under-par 140 to bring home individual medalist honors while leading Linfield to the team win. His first and second round scores of 70 were the best rounds on both days, and he defeated his own teammate by nine strokes.
This is the first conference honor of the year for Fitch, who was named NWC Player of the Year and selected to the Division III PING All-West Region Team last season.
NEXT: Fitch and the Wildcats compete in the second tournament of the fall season, the Pacific Invitational, Saturday and Sunday at the Quail Valley Golf Course.
