McMINNVILLE, Ore. – They say offense wins games, but defense wins championships. Emily Allison (Sr., Hockinson, Wash.) is certainly helping Linfield with the latter, and was recently named Northwest Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for efforts on the opposite side of the ball. The honor was announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Allison, a defender, anchored a Linfield defense that helped the Wildcats score their second-ever victory over Puget Sound and remain undefeated in conference action. Over two games last week, the defense held opponents to two goals and 16 total shots, just four of which were on-target. Allison played the full 90 minutes in both matches.
This is the first conference honor for the junior, a two-year starter for the 'Cats.
Linfield currently sits atop of the league with a 2-0 conference record and 5-1 overall mark.
NEXT: Linfield looks to continue its hot start to the season this weekend against George Fox (Saturday, away) and Willamette (Sunday, home). Both matches begin at noon.
