McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Defense was key to No. 7 Linfield’s 24-14 win over No. 16 Cal Lutheran, and no player came up bigger on the opposite side of the ball than linebacker Dominique Forrest (Jr., Portland, Ore.). For his efforts, he has been selected as the Northwest Conference Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Forrest tallied a team-high 10 tackles – three solo and seven assisted – against the Kingsmen, including one sack that ended a fourth-quarter drive by Cal Lutheran.
This is the first conference honor for Forrest, who competed in all 11 games as a freshman in 2010.
NEXT: Linfield enjoys a bye week before hosting La Verne in a nonconference matchup Saturday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is set for noon.
