Defensive honors go to Linfield's Quiring
September 13, 2011

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – A week after scoring her first career goal, Linfield defender Jenna Quiring has been named the Northwest Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.

Quiring captained a stifling Linfield defense that allowed just 12 shots and one goal in three nonconference games against NAIA programs Northwest Christian, Southern Oregon and Corban. The lone goal allowed came on a penalty kick.

Against Northwest Christian, Quiring also scored her first career goal, putting the ball into the net unassisted as both clubs battled for possession after a corner kick.

Linfield went 2-1 on the week while outshooting its opponents 42-12, including a 23-0 shot margin over Northwest Christian.

This is the first conference honor for Quiring, a four-year starter for the Wildcats.
