Rain played havoc with the NCAA Division III Pella Regional Friday as half the schedule was wiped away by resulting poor field conditions.

A night of thunder and lightning put the double-elimination playoff tournament on its heels from the start, though organizers and host Central College were able to squeeze in two games before continued rainfall caused the playing surface to be deemed too dangerous.

A winners bracket contest between Linfield and Washington-St. Louis was about to get underway, but steady rain forced postponement of Friday’s remaining two games, including the nightcap between Central and Coe.
