Linfield softball fans wanting to find out where the Wildcats will be competing in the NCAA Division III regional playoffs can tune into the NCAA’s Selection Show on Monday, May 9, at 9 a.m. Pacific time.
The NCAA is making the Division III Softball selection show available on broadband via www.NCAA.com for the second consecutive season. The selection show is set to air at approximately 9 a.m. Monday from an in-house studio at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis. Tournament play begins Thursday, May 12.
The Wildcats (41-2), who earned the Northwest Conference’s automatic berth, could be slotted into any one of eight regional sites for the upcoming Division III playoffs. Geographically, the closest host sites are UT-Tyler (Tyler Texas), Central College (Pella, Iowa) and UW-Eau Claire (Eau Claire, Wis.).
Of the 59 teams that qualify, 35 come from conferences that are granted automatic qualification. Six independents are also selected. The 18 remaining berths are selected on an at-large basis from automatic qualifying conferences and independent institutions.
Last season, Linfield was sent to Indianola, Iowa to compete in a six-team regional hosted by Simpson College.
