NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – George Fox jumped to a substantial lead after the first round of the Pacific Spring Invitational Saturday at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course. Senior Brynn Hurdus finished the first round tied for fourth with a score of 83. As a team, Linfield shot an 18-hole total of 357 to share second place with Whitworth. Both the Wildcats and Pirates trail the front-running Bruins by 34 strokes.
George Fox’s Kelsey Morrison helped the Bruins get off to such a good start, leading all individual scores by five strokes with a score of 75. Teammate Mandy Cameron and Puget Sound’s Sarah Bicker share second place with scores of 80 heading into Sunday’s second round.
Alexandria Smith (Jr., Bellingham, Wash.) of Linfield is in a tie for 10th after first round action with a score of 88. Katie Kilborn, 91, Brinn Hovde (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.), 95, and Lydia Smith, 99, rounded out the rest of the scoring for the Wildcats.
