NORTH PLAINS, Ore. – Carding identical scores of 301, Puget Sound and Whitworth sit tied atop the first-round scorecard at the Pacific Spring Invitational. Linfield (313) sits in fourth,12 strokes off the lead at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course.
Led by first-round leader Max Bonk, host Pacific is two strokes off the tournament pace at 303. George Fox (341) sits in fifth while Willamette (348) is sixth.
Bonk and Matt Kitto of Puget Sound both had outstanding days with scores of 66, and 69, respectively. They sit 1-2 individually.
Alex Fitch had the best day for Linfield as he shot a final score of 74. Teammates Yutaro Sakamoto had a 76, and Josh Kay shot 78.
Tommy Schmitz (Jr., Gresham, Ore.) rounded out the Linfield scoring, total an 85.
Jason Erwin, Evan Wallace, Scott Cinatl, and Beau Slayton were counted as individual players and their scores did not go to the teams total.
Action resumes Sunday.
