McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Linfield lacrosse club ended the 2011 campaign with its ninth double-digit loss of the season, falling 19-8 to Pacific Tuesday evening at the Linfield lacrosse field.

With the win, Pacific (10-4) completed the season sweep of Linfield (1-12), winning all three contests by a combined score of 60-28.

The Boxers completely dominated the first period, outshooting the Wildcats 22-4 on the way to an 11-goal lead before the halftime buzzer.

A 2-1 lead quickly turned into a rout as Pacific scored 13 straight goals to blow the game open. The run finally ended with a Linfield goal by Sierra Edgerly (Fr., Cornelius, Ore.) at the 23:52 mark of the second stanza.

As has been the case all season, Linfield played better after the break. The Wildcats actually outshot the Boxers 14-10 and matched their scoring output (7) in the second stanza, but it was too little, too late for the home team.

Ten different players scored for Pacific. Kaitlyn Harper, Monica Smith and Carmen Taplin led the way with three goals and one assist each.

The ‘Cats were led by Anna Gorciak, Brittani Drost (Sr., Forest Grove, Ore.) and Mariah Jones. All three players notched two scores, and Gorciak added an assist.

The game marked the final collegiate match for three Linfield seniors: Monique Schreiber, Kailey Knapp and Chaia Schupack. The trio was honored as halftime as the first graduating class to have played four years of NCAA competition.
