McMINNVILLE, Ore. – After leading the team in offensive production over the weekend, Linfield’s Cole Bixenman has been selected as the Northwest Conference Baseball Offensive/Field Student-Athlete of the Week. The honor was announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Bixenman hit two home runs and registered a .538 batting average (7-for-13) in three wins over Lewis & Clark. He had a 1.000 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage with five RBIs and 13 total bases. The senior also stole three bases and was perfect defensively (1.000 fielding percentage) over eight chances at catcher and right field.
For the season, Bixenman is hitting .386 with a team-leading eight home runs. He also leads the ‘Cats in hits (39), RBIs (30), total bases (72) and slugging percentage (.713), and is one of only two players to start all 27 games this year.
On the conference level, he ranks first in total bases and home runs (tie), second in RBIs and fifth in batting average.
This is the first career weekly honor for Bixenman, who was a first team all-NWC selection at catcher in 2010 and a second team honoree as a sophomore in 2009.
Linfield, ranked eighth in the nation, sits atop the Northwest Conference with a 15-3 league record and 21-6 overall win-loss mark. Statistically, the team leads the pack on both offense and defense, ranked first in team batting (.313) and pitching (2.60 ERA).
NEXT: Linfield takes on No. 7 Chapman in a four-game home series Friday through Sunday. First pitch is slated for Friday’s single game at 3 p.m., Saturday’s doubleheader at noon and Sunday’s single game starts at 1 p.m.
