McMINNVILLE, Ore. – A personal-best effort in the pole vault became even sweeter for Catherine Street after she was named Northwest Conference Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league’s sports information directors.
Street broke school and conference records in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13-3.5 (4.05m) to win the event at the Linfield Jen Boyman Memorial Invitational. In doing so, she also became the first competitor in the nation to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, and ranks a full foot higher than the next competitor’s top mark.
This is the second weekly honor for Street this season. She previously won the award March 15 after placing third in the pole vault at the NCAA DIII Women’s Indoor Championships.
Street is the two-time defending Northwest Conference champion in the pole vault and also holds the Linfield record for the event.
NEXT: The Linfield track clubs compete at the Pacific Luau Saturday.
