PORTLAND, Ore. – In earning her 50th career doubles victory, Sarah Click helped the Linfield women’s tennis club clinch the No. 2 seed in the Northwest Conference tournament with a crushing 9-0 victory over Lewis & Clark Friday at the LC Tennis Dome.

The Wildcats (12-4, 10-1 NWC) achieved their third season sweep of a league opponent. The Pioneers currently sit in sith place with a 3-8 overall record and a 3-6 league mark.

Click's milestone victory did not come easily. She and partner Abby Olbrich engaged in a tight battle with the Pioneers’ No. 1 duo of Amalia Nilsson and Isabelle Borris, but the Wildcat pair prevailed 9-8 (7-5).

The remaining two doubles flights were not as close, as Linfield’s Sophie Larson and Caroline Brigham (Jr., Eagle, Idaho) defeated Jill Coleman and Olivia Sweetman 8-5 and No. 3 pair Lexi Thomas (Sr., Redding, Calif.) and Kiana Nip blanked Makena McCluskey and Catherine Eichhorn 8-0.

Aside from the first and third flights, the ‘Cats ran into little resistance in singles play.

Olbrich and Nilsson dueled in the top flight, which featured two tiebreakers. Linfield’s Olbrich won by a score of 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3). In another tight match, No. 3 player Thomas rallied from an early deficit to defeat Coleman 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

In other singles action, Larson topped Borris 6-4, 6-1 in the second flight. No. 4 Brigham won her 11th singles match of the season with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Sweetman. Click and Nip each blanked their opponents by the score of 6-0, 6-0.
