McMINNVILLE, Ore. – For the second straight week, Linfield’s Emilee Lepp has been honored as the Northwest Conference Softball Offensive/Field Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league’s sports information directors Tuesday.
Lepp added six home runs to her league-leading total and drove in 16 RBIs as No. 1 Linfield went 6-0 for the week against nonconference opponents from California as well as league foes. She went 13-for-18 with a .722 batting average, 1.778 slugging percentage and .762 on-base percentage. She was also perfect defensively, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage in 27 total chances behind the plate.
The catcher leads the Northwest Conference in hits (41), home runs (16) and total bases (96).
She also ranks second in runs batted in (44) and fourth in both batting average (.526) and runs scored (32).
Lepp, a first team all-NWC selection last season, has been named student-athlete of the week twice this season and five times over her career.
By picking up more six wins last week, the Wildcats clinched their 16th straight 20-win season. The club currently boasts a 21-2 win-loss record and is in second place in the conference.
The ‘Cats rank first in the league in team batting average (.422), runs scored (232), hits (281) and home runs (52). Defensively, the team also tops the league in team ERA (1.75) and strikeouts (129).
NEXT: Lepp and the rest of the Linfield club must prepare for a Northwest Conference showdown with Pacific Lutheran, which currently sits atop the league standings. The Wildcats and Lutes play a doubleheader Saturday at Linfield, beginning at noon. The ‘Cats also host Puget Sound in a Sunday doubleheader, also slated for noon.
