McMINNVILLE, Ore. – After leading the league in scoring, it was only fitting that Linfield’s Gretchen Owens should be named to the d3hoops.com Women’s All-West Region Team. The award was announced Tuesday.
A second team regional honoree, Owens topped the Northwest Conference in scoring (19.9) to lead the Wildcats to their first winning season in five years. She posted double digits every game, reaching 20 or more points on 14 separate occasions.
For her efforts, she was a first team all-NWC selection and was also recognized as the league’s student-athlete of the week two times during the regular season.
The Linfield club finished fifth in the Northwest Conference with an 8-8 win-loss record in league action and 13-11 overall mark.
Owens was one of four players from the Northwest Conference to receive all-region honors. George Fox’s Hannah Munger was chosen as the West Region Player of the Year and was joined on the first team by Lewis & Clark’s Kristina Williams. The Bruins’ Keisha Gordon was also a second team honoree.
