LAKEWOOD, Wash. – An opening-round five-over-par 77 by Brynn Hurdus paced the Linfield Wildcats to a slim one-stroke lead Sunday at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational at Oakbrook Golf & Country Club.
Linfield shot a combined score of 353 to lead Northwest Conference foes Whitworth (354), Puget Sound (367) and Pacific Lutheran (398).
Hurdus sits alone atop the leaderboard, three strokes better than Sarah Bicker of Puget Sound, and Emily Guthrie of Whitworth. Both posted scores of 80 on the four-team tournament’s first day.
Puget Sound's Natalie Nagamine and PLU's Julie Heffernan were tied for fourth at 86, followed by Whitworth's Elizabeth Martin at 89.
Three Linfield golfers are tied for seventh place heading into Monday’s second round. Brinn Hovde (Sr., Bellingham, Wash.), Katie Kilborn, and Alexandria Smith (Jr., Bellingham, Wash.) are tied with Whitworth’s Darby Moberg who all finished the day with scores of 92.
