Box Score

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Pacific’s Kelly Stevens set up four goals and scored twice herself to propel the Boxers past Linfield 17-8 in the Wildcats’ season-opening match Saturday afternoon at Sunset High School.

The contest was relocated to a neutral site due to a track and field meet being staged at Lincoln Park, Pacific’s home field, at the same time.

Stevens was among nine Pacific players to ring up goals on Linfield’s young goalkeeper Hayley Steele. The freshman netminder was peppered with 39 total shots, including 23 in the second half when Pacific outscored Linfield 9-4.

Linfield attacker Taylor Fisher scored a match-high four goals but the Wildcats’ top two scorers from last season, Mariah Jones and Anna Gorciak, were held to three goals and three assists combined. Monique Schreiber also added a goal to round out the Linfield scoring.

Steele collected 14 saves in her collegiate debut.

Monica Smith and Kaitlyn Harper each netted three goals to lead Pacific in scoring.

COMING UP: Linfield begins a string of four home matches over six days starting Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Carthage of Wisconsin. The Wildcats also play host to Fontbonne from Missouri (March 20), North Central of Illinois (March 21), and Plymouth State from New Hampshire (March 22).
