COLUMBUS, Ohio – Catherine Street, Linfield’s record holder in the pole vault, placed third in her event Saturday at the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Championships at the Capital Center Fieldhouse on the campus of Capital University.
Street reached a height of 12-8 ¼ (3.87m) in her third appearance at the national indoor meet. She and two other competitors finished with the same mark, but she was awarded third place by virtue of fewer misses.
Abigail Schaffer of Moravian College was crowned national champion, and also broke the meet record. She reached a height of 13-8 ¼ (4.17m), which topped the runner-up by more than four inches.
Street placed fifth at last year’s indoor championships with a height of 12-8 and seventh as a freshman with a mark of 12-0.
