McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield swept Northwest Conference and Yamhill Country rival George Fox in women’s tennis 9-0 Saturday morning at the Linfield Tennis Center.
The Wildcats (3-1, 3-0 NWC) defeated a Bruins team (2-1, 0-3 NWC) that was unable to field a complete squad, partially due to illness.
In doubles play, Sarah Click and Abby Olbrich combined to defeat Alyssa Emoto and Shaina Inn 8-3. No. 2 partners Sophie Larson and Caroline Brigham (Jr., Eagle, Idaho) handed Bethany Nguyen and Cara Griffth a loss by a score of 8-4. Linfield’s tandem of Sarah Watanabe and Lexi Thomas (Sr., Redding, Calif.) earned the third doubles victory by default.
The ‘Cats also swept the singles matches, including two defaults.

Thomas picked up the No. 2 victory with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Inn. Brigham defeated Griffith 6-1, 6-2. Watanabe prevailed in the final contested match, beating Nguyen 6-1, 6-1.
