NEW ORLEANS – Linfield cross country standouts Scott Pinske and Mimi Seeley (Sr., Redmond, Ore.) have been selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, as announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Pinske, who is majoring in international business, competed in his first and only season of cross country in the fall. He placed 14th at the Northwest Conference Championships, earning second-team all-conference honors, and went on to finish 24th at the NCAA Division III West Region Championships.
In addition to his all-conference accolades, he was also chosen as the NWC Men’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week during the regular season.
Seeley, a psychology major, was the top finisher on the women’s squad at every meet this past fall. She earned all-conference and all-region honors after a seventh-place showing at the conference meet and a 35th-place finish at the West Regional.
She was also named NWC Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week after winning the Linfield Preview in September.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Both Linfield squads were also given 2010 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status. The women’s team produced a 3.39 cumulative GPA and the men had a combined GPA of 3.29.
To receive such an honor, teams must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better and compile a team score – finishing at least five runners – at their respective NCAA regional meets.
NEXT: Both Pinske and Seeley have turned out for the Linfield track team, and will compete in the first outdoor meet Saturday, Feb. 26 at George Fox.
