McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield swimmers celebrated the Monday holiday by participating in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in Portland.
Working side-by-side with college students from around the state, about 25 members of the swim club spent three hours serving the Portland community in various capacities.

Some team members helped restore native habitats at the Tryon Creek State Park by planting trees and clearing trails. Other swimmers assisted with painting projects at Pioneer Special Schools.
Prior to serving at their work sites, the student-athletes attended a rally at Portland State University, where they listened to a presentation from Portland Mayor Sam Adams and listened to a rendition of the famous “I Have A Dream” speech.
“It was a really great program to be a part of,” team captain Adriana Daoust said of the experience. “It was a lot of fun.”
