McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield’s Scott Brosius has been nominated for the “2010 Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year Award,” honoring the top coach or administrator at any level of competition in the state. The winner will be announced at the Oregon Sports Awards show Sunday, Jan. 30 at the Nike World Campus in Beaverton, Ore.
Brosius, a Linfield graduate, led the Wildcats to a third-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Championships. The team won a school-record 37 games and captured both the Northwest Conference and West Region crowns. At the conclusion of the season, he was honored as the NWC Coach of the Year.
A dozen Linfield players were all-conference selections, including NWC Player of the year Kelson Brown and NWC Pitcher of the Year Ryan Larson.
The ‘Cats have clinched two conference championships and two regional championships over the past three years under Brosius. His 100-38 win-loss record also includes two top-five finishes at the national championships.
The former collegiate and professional baseball star is a two-time conference coach of the year, and is already a member of the Linfield Athletics, NAIA and Oregon Sports halls of fame.
